Galapagos: The peaceful Eden of the Galápagos Islands is a place unlike any other on earth. Set on the Equator 600 miles off the coast of South America and recognized as a World Heritage Site, this is the legendary place where the young naturalist Charles Darwin, traveling on the research vessel HMS Beagle, made the first observations that would lead to his revolutionary theory of evolution. Today these mysterious islands provide one of nature’s most thrilling wildlife experiences. We savor the wonder, exploring a new island each day from our Island base as our naturalist guides brings this unique world to life. Our journey explores many islands, each with distinct species and landscapes, as we enjoy unforgettable day’s exploration and adventure.
Day 1 (Th): Arrive Quito
Arrive Quito( Mariscal Sucre International Airport – UIO), you will be met by your Kosher Expeditions staff and transferred to our hotel for group dinner and orientation.
Day 2 (Fr): Quito – Colonial City Tour, Shabbat
Quito Situated in a circle of mountainous peaks, is the world's second highest capital and has one of the most magnificent settings in the world. Designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1978, Quito boasts one of the finest colonial centers in Latin America. Spend a half-day with your private guides exploring this spectacular city. Enjoy a visit to the Middle of the World Monument, located 14 miles north of Quito. Located at latitude 0'0'0", it is possible to stand in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres at the same time where you will see proof that you are indeed in the middle of the world as you witness demonstrations of the effects the equator has on two hemispheres . Visit the adjoining Intinan museum dedicated to Ecuador's various indigenous groups. Return to Quito for a wonderful Shabbat with the Jewish community of Ecuador.
Day 3 (Sa): Shabbat at Leisure
Spend Shabbat with the Jewish community of Ecuador, afternoon and at leisure, evening activity.
Day 4 (Su): Flight to Galapagos, hotel check-in Santa Cruz Island and afternoon island exploration
Santa Cruz: Transfer flight to the Galapagos arriving early afternoon on Santa Cruz Island for our 5 day / 4 night stay at our fabulous island hotel from where we will explore daily the wonders of the Galapagos Islands.
Day 4 (Su) to Day 8 (Th): Galapagos Exploration
For 5 the next days we will explore the wonders of the Galapagos Islands. Much of Galápagos wildlife are found directly on or next to the trails we traverse, allowing for nose-to-nose observation and incredible up-close photography. The sheer abundance and diversity of the wildlife make this a place unlike any other on earth. Final daily island itinerary will be decided upon arrival depending on weather conditions and National Park protection regulations for that particular day (limited number of visitors per site due to strict environmental impact regulations). Itinerary below is subject to change due the above reasons.

Day 8 (Th): Galapagos Islands, Transfer to Quito
Time permitting we will take one last Island excursion on Santa Cruz before boarding our flight back to mainland Quito. Afternoon arrival and hotel check-in, evening at leisure.
Day 9 (Fr): Ecuador Cultural and Andean Exploration, Shabbat
We Travel north out of Quito to the Imbabura province, were we first visit Calderon, a little town made famous by the little bread figurines they make into all kinds of animals and colorful characters. After passing through Cayambe, named for the volcano that overlooks the town, we come to San Pablo Lake for some spectacular views, and those interested we will take a quick guided hike down to the lake. Next we visit the town of Peguche to see the famous weavers, then on to the famous Otavalo Market with lots of local color and time for shopping and bargaining with the Otavalenos. Next we continue to the town of Cotacachi where we visit the leather works and free time for shopping and exploring this quaint little town. Next it is on to Cuicocha Lake (a lake in a live volcano) for some photo opportunities, and time permitting, a short hike. Then on to San Ibarra, the town of woodworkers where we can view and shop for wonderful items made by these craftsman hewn out of local wood. Return to Quito for Shabbat with the local community.
Day 10 (Sa): Shabbat at Leisure
Spend Shabbat with the Jewish community of Ecuador, afternoon and at leisure, evening farewell dinner.
Day 11 (Su): Depart
