A Kosher Expeditions Passover adventure includes much more than a hotel and food.  We take care of every aspect of your vacation including all glatt kosher for Pesach meals under strict supervision, on-site synagogue for daily Minyanim, airport transfers, 2-nights Seder, suitable programming during the holiday days and 3 days of guided touring during Chol Hamoed.  What better way to experience the exciting eco-wonderland of Costa Rica.   Just sit back and relax and let us take care of all of the details.

Airport transfers: The minute you arrive in Costa Rica we will take care of all of your needs.  Airport transfers from Liberia International Airport to the resort (30 minutes away) are included in your package.

First 2 nights Seder:  All Seders will be semi-private family style and take place in the main dining area.  Individuals or couples not traveling with a family unit will have the opportunity to take part in the communal Seder.  Private seders are available for an additional cost (please contact us for details).  Imagine experiencing a Seder in the open air dining area with the sounds of the ocean, exotic birds, and the calls of howler monkeys as your backdrop, adding to a truly unique Passover experience.

Tour Excursions:  Your Passover vacation includes 3 days of guided tour excursions during Chol Hamoed.  Guided daily adventures with our naturalists from our base will allow you to explore everything Costa Rica has to offer, from its awe inspiring volcanoes & hot springs, to rain & cloud forests, to wildlife & bird watching, to pristine waterfalls and rivers.  Your adventures during your 3 tour days include canopy zip line tours, hiking, horseback riding, snorkeling tours, river cruising, private beach escapes and volcano hot springs. 

*Adventures are moderate and appropriate for most age groups.  Those participants looking for a less active touring program, additional options may be made available at our tour locations.  *Please note tour options cannot be substituted.

Tours:

Rainforest & Volcano Adventure: A full day of exciting adventure is waiting to be discovered on this combo tour in an ancient tropical primary forest located on the slopes of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano & National Park. The tour starts with the exciting canopy tour where you will zip from tree to tree through the jungle on a high wire of 10 cables and 11 platforms.  After this you will have the opportunity to refresh yourself on a 1300 ft. water slide that will get you ready for the next adventure, a 45 minute guided horseback riding tour through the forest that will take you right to the Volcano hot springs. There you can relax, apply a mud mask rich in minerals and swim in natural thermal pools heated by the volcano all while sitting beside the river under forest canopy. Those interested will also have the opportunity to do an optional hike to a beautiful waterfall. (Full day tour)

Snorkel & Beach Safari:  On this tour you'll feel the wind in your hair as you race by boat with the dolphins to a deserted white sandy beach. Take a leisurely swim or explore the underwater wonders as you snorkel with guides and naturalists in secluded bays and coral reefs. Get up close with Costa Rica’s underwater marine life, including hundreds of species of fish and possible sightings of large marine mammals including turtles, sharks, manta rays, dolphins and possibly even a whale shark.  All of our boats are fully equipped with safety equipment (US Coast Guard Standards), cellular phone, VHF radio, restroom, on board music, snorkel equipment and drinks. Rainforest Canopy Tour: (1st choice) This is a once in a lifetime experience!  It consists of sliding on a secure cable between 11 platforms and towers in the canopy of the tropical forest.  This is a truly exhilarating and exciting experience as we view wildlife and the rainforest from the top of the jungle. (1/2 day tour)

Jungle Boat Safari: (2nd Choice) This naturalist guided boat trip into the Baula National Park will explore the saltwater wildlife refuge. The Giant Mangrove swamps provide a natural protected habitat for a wide variety of exotic Birds, monkeys, caimans, crocodiles, iguanas and land crabs.  Gliding through the water you will realize that this is what Costa Rica is all about: splendid nature. (1/2 day tour)

Tour Desk:  A tour desk will be available on-site for the duration of the Passover program for those interested in additional touring.  Participants will have the opportunity to sign-up directly for these excursions with the hotel.  Additional excursions include Arenal Volcano, Monteverde National Park, fishing, scuba diving, horseback riding, canopy tours, ATV’s, surfing, whitewater rafting, sailing, and much more!

On-site activities:  Apart from the on-site resort amenities, Kosher Expeditions has developed exciting low-impact nature based activities for all ages during the holiday.

These include:
 Guided nature walks
 Bird & wildlife watching
 Naturalist and ecologist lecture series
 History lecture series - Local historians will lecture us on the history of Costa Rica including “The Jews of Costa Rica”.  This three part lecture series is divided into “Colonial Period 1560-1821”, “Independence to First World War” and “Modern Jewry in Costa Rica 1920s-2005”.

Kids Camp: Available for ages 4-14.  2 daily secession of structured supervised programming will be available for participants per day during the chag from 9am to 12pm and from 2:30pm to 5:30pm.  *Please note there will be no kids camp scheduled during Chol Hamoed since these are scheduled excursion days.

Babysitting: Is available and may be purchased directly from the hotel.

Dining & Kashrut

Meals:  Unique to Kosher Expeditions is our ability to prepare delicious Glatt kosher for Pesach cuisine in exotic destinations off the beaten path under strict supervision.  Our master chefs specialize in nutritious well balanced and beautifully prepared and presented meals.  We take full advantage of our natural surroundings; in Costa Rica our menus are reflective of the local cuisine including using a large variety of the areas world renowned fresh fruits and vegetables.

Snacks: Special snack times will be designated throughout the day offering a large variety of local fresh tropical fruits, juices, snacks and baked goods.

Kashrut & Supervision:  All food and standards for the program will be Glatt Kosher Le Pesach, all wine will be Mevushal, plus Shmura Matzo will be made available. Supervision will be under the auspices of the local Centro Israelita & Rabbi Gershon Miletski supported by certified masgichim from the United States.  For more information on supervision and standards of kashrut please feel free to contact us.
